Shunaji
Jon Onabowu Quartet & Brody Andrews (DJ)
Doors will open at 6pm
Shunaji’s releases have been acclaimed within independent music scenes in the UK and abroad, as she pushes the boundaries of mainstream music. Born in Nigeria and moving through Rome and now to London, she sites herself as a music producer, rapper and vocalist, adopting experimental approaches to blend jazz-influenced hip-hop with gloaming trip-hop and a touch of soulful synthesizer funk.
Earlier this year, Shunaji was awarded Help Musicians' Do It Differently and PRS Foundation's Open Fund. She also composed her first soundtrack for 20 Stories High's new play 'Buttercup', and work on music productions featured on Create Define Release (CDR) and Deep Matter's spin-off label.
Opening the evening are jazz group The Jon Onabowu Quartet. With Jon on drums, and fellow members, Marek Bura (guitar), Jon Moko (bass) and David Mrakpor (Keys). Brody Andrews is DJ to round off the night.
