Doors will open at 5pm
An evening of performances curated by the world-renowned Queille Festival. Featuring a mix of classical, jazz, early and contemporary music alongside theatre and opera, Queille attracts some of the finest musicians and artists on the planet, alongside the young, up-and-coming future stars of tomorrow.
6pm: Chamber works by Haydn, Mozart and Mendelssohn. Members of some of London’s best period instrument groups and string quartets come together to perform some chamber music greats.
7.30pm: Soprano Lucy Crowe performs an hour long set with the Special K Baroque Band featuring show-stoppingly virtuosic arias by Handel, Purcell and Vivaldi and Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate K.165.
No stranger to Special Queille audiences, Lucy Crowe’s latest recording of Handel’s Rodelinda with The English Concert garnered CD of the Week in The Times, BBC Radio 3’s Record Review and Recording of the Month in BBC Music Magazine. Future appearances include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Metropolitan Opera, a performance at the BBC Proms and concerts with Sir Simon Rattle and the LSO.
10pm: DJs until close
About the Quelle Festival
The Queille Trust is a registered UK Charity whose principal purpose is to encourage the performing arts and to support the careers of young or emerging performers. The Trust provides grants in support of this aim but its principal focus is the sponsorship of performances at the Queille Festival.
The Trust hopes to create an audience and platform for these artists and an ambience for them to find opportunity for recognition and commissions.
Ticket Options
You can come to Shipwright as a Garden Guest (£35) or a House Guest (£70).
All guests will watch the show from our Thames-side garden, but as a Garden Guest this is as far as you'll go. There are bars and a fantastic food stall from our partners, Klose & Soan, but you might need to prepare for a British summer…
As a House Guest, you’re helping support the work the Shipwright does. Thank you. In return, we’d like to invite you to make Shipwright your home for the whole day, with a seat at each of the shows we have programmed. You’ll also get a personal tour with members of our team, before stopping off in a private bar with sofas, indoor loos, and a cloakroom. You'll still watch from outside, but whenever you need to, you can return to a cosy room inside.
